Know About SWOT Analysis

To be successful in your life, you have to utilize your talents to the maximum potential. You could easily tackle your problems if you are aware of your strengths and weaknesses. It is vital to recognize your strengths and weaknesses. Not only you should identify your strengths and weaknesses, but also you go beyond that to recognize the threats and opportunities that originate from your strengths and weaknesses. SWOT analysis is a powerful technique that can help you identify your strengths and weaknesses. SWOT analysis offers you many benefits and enables you to nurture the specialized abilities and talents that are necessary for you to grow in your career. SWOT analysis can also help you to effectively implement strategies to achieve your goals.

Using SWOT Analysis

Get a print out of a free worksheet for performing a personal SWOT analysis test. Then try to answer the following questions and write them down.

  • What are the predominant advantages that you have over your peers? (these include your unique skills, certifications, educational qualifications or even connections)
  • Name one thing that you can do better than anyone else.
  • In your career, what are your strengths that are recognized by other people, especially your boss?
  • Name the achievement that you are proudest of.
  • What are the values that people around you fail to exhibit that you believe in?
  • Are you the member of a network that none of your acquaintances are involved in? Do you have any significant connections with influential people?

You have to perform this analysis from your perspective and also from the perspective of others to get a clear cut vision about yourself. While answering the questions, be objective and honest rather than being modest or shy. Understanding your strengths is essential for you to feel comfortable and satisfied with your field of work.

List your attributes if you find it difficult to recognize your strengths. Most likely, some of these attributes will be your strengths.

Now answer these questions:

  • What are the tasks that you avoid often because of your lack of confidence in performing them?
  • What are your weaknesses from the perspective of others?
  • List out your negative work habits (these includes poor handling of stress, short-tempered, being late or procrastinating)
  • Are there any personality traits that hold you back in your field of career? For example, stage fright.

Again, analyze these questions from both your perspective and the perspective of others around you.

Opportunities

There are numerous chances for something positive to happen in your career and enhancing your growth. You just need to claim these opportunities and invest maximum effort to achieve success. Identify opportunities – no matter the scale of them. Exploiting maximum opportunities will increase the chances of success of both the organization that you are working for and your career.

Threats

Any factor that is capable of negatively impacting your business from outside can be considered as a threat. Always keep an eye on your competitors and be prepared for the worst-case scenario. Try to recognize the external problems that your organization is exposed to – such as debt.
