It is compiled and published in March annually by the American business magazine Forbes. The list was first published in March 1987. The total net worth of each individual on the list is cited in US dollars. It is based on their documented assets and accounting for debt.
Royalty and dictator’s wealth are excluded from these lists. The ranking is an index of the richest documented person, whose wealth is totally ascertained.

The US continues to remain at the top of the list of the richest individuals on earth with Jeff Bezos, founder “Amazon” and an aerospace company “Blue Origin”. Jeff continues to get richer by $24 billion in 2020. Bezos, at age 56, holds a net worth of $131 billion. For the third year in a row he is the wealthiest person in the world today. This is despite the fact that he has given $ 36 billion to his ex-wife Mackenzie Bezos, as part of their legal settlement in divorce last summer.
Started as a simple online bookstore in Jeff’s bedroom Amazon is one of the biggest and most popular companies on the web. Amazon was started shortly after he resigned from the hedge fund giant David E. Shaw. In fact the initial sales were slow. He had first pitched the idea to his former boss, who wasn’t interested. A rumor that Shaw himself has confirmed. Jeff’s full name is Jeffery Preston Bezos; born on January 12th, 1964. He was once upon a time a short-order cook at McDonald’s. Also, he holds an electrical engineer and computer science degree.
Bezos has since gone on to become the first man since Bill Gates in 1999 to achieve a net worth of over $100 billion. His other projects include “The Washington Post” (which he bought in 2013), and the 10,000-year clock, also known as the “Long Now”. The richest person on earth has certain work ethics, breakthrough ideas, and absolute commitment. He founded his own company and continues to take an active role in the management of his exorbitant wealth.

Though Jeff originally started out selling books, he has since morphed his business into a one-stop-shop for everything under the sun. He is the world’s richest person and most important retailer. At any rate, it is hard to dispute his position as the “wealthiest individual on the earth”. The e-commerce giant Amazon that he runs is hiring 100,000 workers, both full-time and half-time. Amazon has been in the spotlight once again amid the pandemic to meet increased demand from consumers staying home and shopping online.
Jeff’s investment pattern of constant diversification is evident in some of his unexpected recent business expansions. Amazon recently acquiring Wholefoods in 2017, and launching of its branded over-the-counter drugs in February 2018. It is making major moves, launching drone shipping and a bunch of other strong ideas.
