In this latest remake of the H. G. Wells classic, from writer-director Leigh Whannell, Elizabeth Moss once again proves that few others do unhinged 21st-century woman quite like her. Her performance is the protagonist Cecilia, who is being stalked by her abusive ex. The eponymous villain is felt viscerally by the audience.

The Lodge is a movie wherein during a family retreat to a remote winter cabin over the holidays, the father happens to be forced to abruptly depart for work. He leaves behind his two children in the responsibility of his new girlfriend Grace. Isolated and alone, soon after a blizzard happens to trap them inside the lodge as terrifying events summon specters from Grace’s dark past.

On the Record is a documentary from directors Amy Ziering and Kirby Dick who weave interviews with notable female survivors in Black media and the hip-hop world. These include Drew Dixon, Sil Lai Abrams, and Jenny Lumet who have had to suffer through a lot of misogyny and sexual violence by Black men. The main agenda of this movie is basically addressing how Black women’s loyalty to the culture is often preyed upon.
